I stood in my garden with my rake in my hand and watched with dreaded fascination as a missile streaked across the sky above. For the pilot it was chasing it was the biggest test of his fighting ability. The result of this encounter can be read on page eleven of Airloss.

All Argentine and British losses are accounted for as well as the few local aircraft. What was destroyed, when and how, took a lot of research and many kind people assisted me with their knowledge of incidents. Talking to people involved was very interesting and having a meal with one of the pilots who had actually dropped bombs on you was a bit unusual.

100 Argentine, 35 British and 5 Falkland Aircraft were destroyed and this is an account of them and the men who flew in them. I hope I have done justice to the memory of those who did not go home.

Fred Clark.
