Post Office (2nd view)

The Post Office and Philatelic Bureau are situated on Ross Road, Notice the two red telephone kiosks, specially imported from Great Britain.

The Post office is open from 08:00 to 16:30 Monday to Friday each week for normal counter service, such as the collection and posting of mails (sea and airmail), and the sale of stamps. The Post Office is also responsible for the issuing of Old Age Pensions to the Senior section of the community, as well as the payment of Children's Allowance.

The Philatelic Bureau, has the same opening hours as the Post office. However the bureau will also open out of hours when cruise vessels are in the port. The bureau deals with all philatelic requests from collectors and dealers alike, and stock current issues of stamps and First Day Covers, albums, catalogues and postcards.

The Philatelic Bureau is also the agent for the British Antarctic Territories, and the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands.

Also on the ground floor out of picture to the right, are the offices of the Registrar General, and the Court and Council Chambers (the Falklands equivalent of the British parliament).
